| Let me introduce myself ..... I was born in Milan. In nine years I made a small design, very appreciated by all: at that point I realized that I designed for life. I studied at the Artistic High School of “Accademia di Brera” and, then, my university degree in Architecture at “Politecnico di Milano”, with a thesis about problems related to working class housing. I remember very well that the choice of the artistic liceum was my big conquest, I also fought to attend the Accademia (specifically painting) ....... I couldn’t do it! However I attended Gianfilippo Usellini’s lessons as he allowed me to be present in his school-room, being one of his friends’ daughter. At the same time I attended the Faculty of Architecture back in the hot late sixties. Those years were very important to me in order to build a civil conscience, to grow up, to be aware of my choises. I have always preferred however activities close to creativity and to colours use instead of activities in the architectural field. My first painting exibition was in Gonzaga, then in Suzzara, Sabbioneta, Milano at Sormani library; I partecipated to several competitions: Premio Suzzara, Premio Certosa di Garegnano ... and many others forgotten.... but all of this activity was not enough to make me living and I decided to teach, at the beginning with some doubt, later with better conviction and more and more satisfaction from the interaction with youths who were discovering their potentialities. Later on the artistic activity slowed when my three sons (Andrea, Stefania, Davide) were born. For several years I was just a mammy!!! After 1985 my paintings had a radical change: if before I preferred figures, now subjects are mainly landscapes. Also the colours which were mellow and used with spatule and large blobs of colour, became more fluid with large areas of flat colour. Using acrilic colours I enlarged my palette and I moved from a prevailing yellow to strong and sharp couplings. I’m living in Milan with my husband, one of my sons and a cat and I keep with big enthusiasm a laboratory of paintings for adults and children at my studio in 3, Orombelli road. |
